Alex Gavaghan & the Boss Jockeys

Our leader of doo-wop Rock ‘n’ Roll story telling. High octane tales of all things ordinary made extra ordinary by this small but well formed three piece. Music to live and drink by, original guitar work and rhythmic deliveries to move even the heaviest feet.

Bayou Noir

Stompin’ hot Cajun sounds straight out of Louisianna. This Liverpool based, Accordion lead 7 piece play a tight set of original sounds of the French speaking Southern American Bayou. Always a cheery occasion and well attended by dancers who enjoy the traditional two-step and waltz.

Blind Monk Trio

Inspired by a wide range of modern jazz performers Blind Monk Trio bring a new energy to the traditional Sax/Bass/Drums three piece. Adding in unique inspirations from Eastern Traditions and Alternative Rock they are form a vibrant energetic trio with plenty of space available to showcase their individual talents.

Cajun Session

Hosted by resident band Bayou Noir this is an open session focused on Cajun music that all are welcome to attend and play at. Stringed instruments, percussion and accordion are the standard. Any level performer can join, enthusiasm is all that’s required. Alternately, just pop in for a listen and a pint!

Downtown Dixieland Band

Long standing Liverpool legends, formerly of a residency at The Marlboro pub Slater St. we now host them once a month. Classic Dixieland jazz with regular guest appearances.

Irish/Folk Session

Our weekly Tuesday afternoon session is hosted by members of the band The Bog Standards. All are welcome to join us to play or spectate and pretty much any instrument can be accommodated.

Jools & the Gman

Top class guitar and harmonica jazz duo. Mid century vibe side project from a virtuoso duo of well established pro players.

Saltcutters

A three piece Scouse Irish Dance band. Their live performances feature a large about of stomping, leg throwing and howling. To quote the band “you will be moved, either way.” We think they’re the perfect band to help shake of the mid week cobwebs. The Bog Standards also host our weekly Tuesday afternoon Irish sessions.

The Blue Soul

The new project of Liverpool long-timer Nick Ellis. Cool Rock ‘n’ Roll originals with story telling and love’s escapades as the subject. A well rehearsed and musical eloquent band support strong and original vocals. Each gig is two sets, one to listen and learn from and one to dance and move.

The Nudie Suits

Local 6 piece classic country band playing good time honkytonk and country music from 1940s to today! A great band for dancing, drinking and singing along!

The Resurrection Men

The Yellow Belly Stragglers

Hot Hokum originals and choice covers. These guys play every Tuesday fortnight and often host out of town guests and feature surprise appearances in their line up. Fans of Country, Blues, Old Jazz and Honky Tonk alike will enjoy.

Loose Moose String Band

A pub favourite Loose Moose play Bluegrass, Old Time and Western Swing. Always ready to get the party started they also give their own Bluegrass take on 80s and 90s pop classics.

Manouchetones

From Bossa Nova, to Blues to Parisian Waltzes The Manouchetones create the sound of 1930s Paris in the pub! Well travelled Gypsy Jazz and Django Reinhardt enthusiasts these guys monthly Wednesday slot is one to put in your diary.

Marley Chingus

Our longest standing resident modern jazz favourites. The quartet takes over the pub from 9pm every other Friday to kick everybody dancing into the weekend! With regular guest performers this fun night manages to stay fresh all year round.

Martin Smith Quartet

Martin is Liverpool’s most noted and respected Jazz Trumpeter, he fronts this quartet formed around a musicians from the local scene. These Sunday afternoon (4-7) gigs feature a wide range of music. We served meals, including roasts until 6pm and the whole family is welcome.
